festival season is upon us!
Coachella just announced their 2024 lineup and the question is, who are the must see acts in the desert this year? One artist that stood out from the lineup goes by the name of Young Miko. This will be Young Miko’s first time performing at Coachella. Being the only Puerto Rican act on the lineup this year, Young Miko will be representing the best that our island has to offer.

Puerto Rican star and LGBTQ+ icon Young Miko has taken the Latin trap scene by a storm! At just 25 years old, she’s earned a HOT100 entry on Billboard Charts, collabed with artists such as Bad Bunny, Feid, Karol G, and gained over 28 million monthly Spotify listeners. Her major hits include Classy 101, Lisa, Wiggy, and Chulo pt. 2. Her debut EP, Trap Kitty, propelled her career into what it is now.
Despite only starting in 2021, Young Miko has made a huge impact on the Latin Trap genre. Her captivating storytelling and her smooth lyricism is what makes her stand out in this male dominated genre. She’s become a pillar of LGBTQ+ representation within the genre as Young Miko is one of the few openly queer rappers in the Latin scene. Her presence has helped open the genre to other LGBTQ+ artists and helped listeners of the genre become more open minded. Being her true authentic self is the reason she’s growing rapidly. In an interview with Pop Sugar, she talks about the empowerment of women in today’s generation and how ecstatic she is to be a part of it. “We’re in a time where people want to see women triumph and be empowered. I’m happy to be a part of that”(Pop Sugar). It’s easy to conclude that Miko is breaking barriers and is becoming the face of change the genre needs.

Before she was Young Miko, Maria Victoria Ramirez de Arellano Cardona was a tattoo artist whose tattooing helped fund her musical dreams. While tattooing Miko began her musical career on Soundcloud with her track “Quiero”. Soundcloud became an important factor to her rise to fame as her fan base grew tremendously and soon she would become a viral sensation. She now has a following of 6.5M followers on instagram and 7M on Tiktok.
Young Miko has become one of our personal favorite artists. Her music is what captured our attention but her message and what she stands for is what made us stay. From the tattoo parlors of Puerto Rico, to sharing the stage with greats such as Bad Bunny, and now performing at one of the biggest music festivals in the world, Miko is an artist to keep on your radar. This is only the beginning for this incredible artist.
